Salinas Valley Now 

Part-time Bilingual Editor 

Salinas Valley Now is an expansion project from the journalists who bring you Monterey County Weekly and Monterey County Now. (Back-to-back winners of first place General Excellence at the 2024 and 2025 California Journalism Awards.) It will be a daily digital news platform dedicated exclusively to the stories emanating from Salinas and Salinas Valley, and will launch in the spring of 2026.. We are seeking a part-time editor to assign and edit daily stories written in English and post-edit Spanish translations. Must be bilingual in Spanish/English. 

The ideal candidate will have a journalism track record demonstrating a focus on details and accuracy as well fluency across the digital spectrum. Must be able to guide the Salinas Valley Now staff writer in prioritizing the stories of the day with excellent journalistic judgment, and then ensure clarity, accuracy and fairness in published stories. Must be passionate about covering the diverse communities and stories of Salinas and the Salinas Valley. 

A minimum of five years of experience is required. Familiarity with AI translation tools is a plus.

This is a new project and the editor should be curious and adaptable as we try new things and find out what works.
