The Colorado Sun is a journalist-founded nonprofit newsroom with a mission that matters: Serving the people of Colorado with independent, community-centered journalism. We translate major topics in ways that make them relatable no matter where in Colorado the reader lives. Our core subjects include politics and policy, culture, the outdoors and the environment, education and the economy.

Open Position

Location: Denver, Colorado

Beat: The people and environment of northeastern Colorado

Position:

Contraction of corporate media has left northeastern Colorado with diminished news coverage. The Sun will fill some of these gaps with reporting and photography directed toward remote, but tightly knit communities wrestling with big change related to economics, water and climate change, health care, immigration, public policy and engagement. Images are highly valued by The Sun and we view the photographer as a crucial reporting partner, generating project ideas of their own while also supporting the work of others.

Salary and Benefits: $50,000-$62,000

Corps members are eligible for health insurance, 401(K), a company-issued laptop and photo kit, and a generous paid time off package.
