Nonprofit and completely independent, J.’s mission is to inform, connect and strengthen the diverse Jewish community of Northern California. We fulfill that mission by publishing stories daily online and biweekly in print, covering news from antisemitic incidents to relevant legislation to cultural happenings.

Position:

Community members feel connected when they are seen. J.'s photojournalist shows up at events around Northern California, from pro-Israel rallies in Saratoga to anti-Zionist protests in Berkeley; at holiday celebrations, art installations, and groundbreakings; at press conferences and talks by prominent Jewish figures. You show up just to record joyful moments at preschools, senior living, and day school graduations. You are the community's lens.

Salary and Benefits: Salary is $65,000/year for an early career journalist

Health insurance (Kaiser HMO), life and disability, commuter and FSA program, 401k, cell phone stipend, company issue laptop, two weeks vacation plus Jewish holidays, great working environment including Bagel Thursdays.

Moving Stipend: No planned moving stipend, although that is negotiable.
