The Flatwater Free Press is Nebraska’s first independent, nonprofit newsroom focused on investigations and feature stories that matter. We were named the 2024 Startup of the Year by the Institute for Nonprofit News. We’re published by the Nebraska Journalism Trust, a public charity with a mission to uncover truth, amplify diverse voices, and enrich life in Nebraska.

Location: Omaha, Nebraska

Position:

The rural Nebraska reporter lives in a local community, collaborates with local newsrooms, and produces enterprise stories that resonate and are republished statewide and beyond. The reporter's stories will touch on topics as varied as immigration, agriculture, local government, and rural life, as they illuminate challenges and solutions to current issues.

Salary and Benefits: $52,000

80% of medical, dental, vision paid for by NJT
