celebrating more than 20 years of trusted local journalism, is seeking an
experienced Freelance News Journalist and General Assignment
Reporter to join our growing editorial team.
This is
a part-time, consistent assignment-based position with above-average
pay and the opportunity to grow into a full-time role. The position operates in
a hybrid work environment, including in-office collaboration, reporting in
the community, and work-from-home flexibility. If you DO NOT LIVE in
Jacksonville, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY . Candidates must live in Jacksonville
and be deeply familiar with the following neighborhoods:
Avondale, Riverside, Ortega, San Marco, San Jose, Epping Forest, St.
Nicholas, and Murray Hill
Responsibilities
- Report and
write original, community-focused news stories
- Conduct
in-person interviews and attend local events
- Pitch story
ideas relevant to neighborhood interests
- Meet deadlines
consistently and collaborate with editors
- Uphold
journalistic integrity and editorial standards
Qualifications
- Minimum three
years of print journalism experience
- Strong working
knowledge of AP Style
- Proven
reporting and writing skills
- Ability to work
independently and manage assignments
- Comfortable
conducting in-person interviews and field reporting
- Reliable,
professional, and community-oriented
