Deputy Metro Editor
Baton Rouge
The Advocate/Times-Picayune, Louisiana’s largest news organization, seeks an
experienced, collaborative journalist to help lead coverage of the Baton Rouge
area. We’re looking for someone who can manage breaking news in a competitive
media market and help reporters balance daily beat coverage with enterprise
ranging from hard news to features. The deputy metro editor works closely with
other deputy editors, the managing editor and our digital and visuals teams on
topics ranging from politics and business to crime and education.
Our company also operates newsrooms in New Orleans, Lafayette, Shreveport and Lake Charles, serving readers statewide with award-winning reporting.
What You’ll Do:

Shape and edit stories, coaching reporters to write with
depth and narrative flair.

Balance the demands of daily breaking news with enterprise
and investigative work.

Help ensure strong digital presentation across our homepage
and other platforms.
·
Collaborate with audience and digital teams to promote
stories and maximize reach and engagement.
·
Use analytics tools to understand reader behavior and inform
editorial decisions that grow readership and subscriptions.
