Newspapers of New England — a family-owned group of five daily newspapers and several smaller publications serving readers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont — is seeking a versatile and skilled page designer. This is a vital role for someone who wants to help uphold our newsrooms' strong tradition of excellence in print journalism.

The ideal candidate can do it all: write clean, compelling headlines; design engaging, content-rich pages; manage wire service content; spot errors; and make critical news decisions under deadline pressure.

Our design desk members demonstrate strong news judgment, command of AP style and the ability to juggle multiple tasks on deadline. This role includes designing news and features pages, and offers opportunities to work with sports, special sections and glossy lifestyle magazines. You’ll collaborate with a talented, experienced team of journalists who are deeply committed to serving their local communities.

This position is mostly daytime hours and some weekend work is possible.

Our core publications include the Daily Hampshire Gazette (Northampton, Mass.), Recorder (Greenfield, Mass.), Athol Daily News (Athol, Mass.), Valley News (West Lebanon, NH), Concord Monitor (Concord, NH) and Monadnock Ledger-Transcript (Peterborough, NH). Our papers are consistently recognized as among the best of their size in New England.

This position offers flexibility in both schedule and compensation, depending on the candidate’s experience and career goals. This can be either a full-time or part-time position, and all work can be done remotely. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. A company computer is provided.
