Description:

The Frederick News-Post, a six-day-a-week newspaper in Frederick, Maryland, is seeking an experienced journalist who can do it all — telling stories on a variety of platforms.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of reporting and photography experience. Recent college graduates with relevant experience will be considered.

Your week will vary depending on the day.

One day, you’ll be the newsroom’s staff photographer, covering sports, features, events and breaking news. We provide professional-level photography gear.

The next day, you’ll focus on reporting, covering local governments, news features or general assignment — whatever comes up.

The News-Post has a fast-paced newsroom that covers a vibrant, growing community. Frederick is the second largest city in Maryland, and is an hour from Washington, D.C., and Baltimore.

They will be highly motivated and resourceful enough to find story ideas and images. They’ll work with a collaborative spirit under daily deadline pressures. Must be internet/social media savvy.

A bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, photojournalism, English, or a related program, is preferred. Excellent grammar skills and knowledge of AP style are a strong plus.

Must have a vehicle suitable for getting around the county in all weather. Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving history with no suspensions.

The schedule is usually Monday to Friday, with some night shifts and evening assignments. You'll be part of a weekend and holiday rotation.
