Photographer


The Chattanooga Times Free Press is seeking a talented photojournalist to join our editorial team. The candidate should have an eye for visual storytelling, an understanding of photographic techniques, a nose for news and an ability to capture images that enhance our coverage of local and national news. The candidate will be responsible for photographing a variety of events and people for various stories, working with reporters and editors to deliver compelling, high-quality content for our print and digital platforms.


Photojournalist candidate responsibilities:

— Capture images at events for various beats (politics, crime, sports, entertainment, etc.) that accurately capture the events.

— Work with reporters and editors to cover a story or event.

— Edit photos quickly and accurately and upload them by a deadline.

— Be up to date on local and national news.

— Find events for enterprise photographs.

— Ensure photos align with the editorial voice and quality standards of the Times Free Press.

— Collaborate with our digital team on video storytelling.

— Create captions which are accurate, informative and engaging and follow AP style.

Follow ethical guidelines and maintain a professional, impartial stance when photographing various subjects or stories.

— Maintain photographic equipment.

— Have a reliable means of transportation and travel to various events for assignments.

— Be comfortable with shooting video.
