Description:
Washingtonian magazine is seeking a creative, hardworking journalist with experience in writing and editing articles and packages, and a particular interest in real estate, home design, and neighborhoods. The ideal candidate would have an understanding of Washington and how it works, and would also have experience putting together survey-based lists such as top realtors and top mortgage professionals.
What the job entails:
* Conceive, plan, and assign/write/edit assorted articles and packages, for both print and online, on subjects including real estate news and trends, home renovation guides, interior design trends, home tours, luxury home sales, and neighborhood guides.
* Produce annual research- or survey-based "top" lists such as top realtors and top mortgage professionals.
* Work with staff/freelance writers with varying levels of experience through all phases of a story, from idea generation to reporting to writing and revising.
* Collaborating with art and digital teams.
* Ideas, ideas, and more ideas.

* Collaborating with the magazine's other editors to suggest and brainstorm stories—whether for online or print—and pitching in on large cover packages when needed.
* Other one-off responsibilities as designated by the editor-in-chief.
What you'd bring:
* Minimum of 3-5 years experience writing and editing.
* Experience writing or editing articles with a consumer-oriented bent.
* An eye for good design and a knack for spotting trends.
* The ability to multi-task and juggle big projects, along with a respect for deadlines.
* Ideally, actual experience producing "best professionals" lists such as top realtors, and in conducting surveys.
* An understanding and appreciation of city and regional magazines.
