Description:
The Nogales International in Nogales, Arizona, is looking for a full-time experienced bilingual reporter to continue our 100 years of award-winning reporting along the U.S.-Mexico border.
We have a strong focus on local news. Duties include reporting and writing on the city, county and public safety in addition to international news on the border as warranted. The reporter will write people-centered features, contribute to social media and newsletters and take photos and video. There is work over the border in our sister city of Nogales, Sonora, as needed.
A fluent Spanish speaker is a must; we’re looking for at least two years of experience but will consider a strong recent college graduate with an interest in telling the story of a tight-knit, unique border community.
Salary range is $17-19/hour, depending on experience. Must have a vehicle and valid driver’s license, good communication skills and be able to work flexible hours and occasional weekends. We publish one print edition per week with a strong focus on 24/7 news online.
The Nogales International is part of Wick Communications, with a dozen newspapers in Arizona and in several other states. Reporter will at times work out of the Green Valley News/Sahuarita Sun office 30 minutes north. The metro Tucson area, known for its night life, the University of Arizona and arts offerings, is less than an hour north.
Benefits available include health, vision and dental insurance, 401(k) and paid time off.
The Nogales International offers a rare border-reporting experience with an opportunity to tell big stories with big impact. If you’d like to talk, send a resume (cover letter optional) to editor Dan Shearer via email at: dan.shearer@gvnews.com.
