Flamingo is Florida's favorite magazine, online and in print, covering culture, travel, outdoor pursuits, conservation, food, music and fascinating Floridians. Launched in March 2016, Flamingo’s four print editions are available on retail newsstands across the southeast and by subscription. Flamingo is seeking a sharp, fun, creative thinker to help lead our statewide editorial team. The person in this Senior Editor role will report directly to the editor in chief. Responsibilities will include conceptualizing and executing editorial projects across digital and print platforms, assisting in production of photo shoots, planning the annual editorial calendar, creating digital content, managing freelancers, editing and writing everything from feature stories to photo captions. The person in this role should have a deep love for and connection to Florida.
Candidate must have:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
Impeccable editing and writing skills
Fluency in AP Style
Passion for storytelling
Extremely organized. Even better if you have experience using organizational tools like Asana, Buffer and Google Calendar
Must have your finger on the pulse of Florida
Experience using InDesign, the Google Suite and Wordpress
Basic photo editing skills
Commitment to production excellence
Up-beat, positive energy
An eye for style
