Description:

We’re seeking an experienced Managing Editor to lead all editorial operations at Finance Play. This person will own the editorial calendar, manage writers, ensure accuracy and consistency, and uphold our unique voice: confident, analytical, and unapologetically pro-market.

You’ll build and run a high-efficiency newsroom that operates one step ahead of the market.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full content cycle: ideation, assignment, editing, publication, and performance tracking.

  • Lead a team of finance writers producing daily and weekly investor-focused content.

  • Oversee fact-checking and enforce Finance Play’s two-source verification rule.

  • Maintain a dynamic 90-day editorial calendar tied to macro events (Fed meetings, CPI, earnings calls).

  • Edit for structure, accuracy, and tone — turning analysis into actionable investor guidance.

  • Conduct weekly newsroom meetings (Monday briefs, Wednesday reviews, Friday launches).

  • Collaborate with analytics, design, and distribution teams for content optimization.

  • Uphold brand consistency and ideological clarity in every headline and paragraph.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in financial journalism, editing, or managing editorial roles.

  • Proven success managing content teams and deadlines in a newsroom or digital media environment.

  • Excellent command of markets, macroeconomics, and policy.

  • Experience with CMS, SEO, and analytics tools.

  • Ability to translate complex market stories into concise, strategic investor takeaways.

  • Strong alignment with Finance Play’s voice: free-market, anti-bureaucratic, and results-driven.

Preferred Background

  • Former editor or senior journalist at CNBC, Bloomberg, WSJ, MarketWatch, or Fortune.

  • Experience managing a mix of staff and freelance writers.

  • Track record of elevating editorial standards and increasing reader engagement.

Compensation

  • Competitive salary or monthly retainer (based on experience).

  • Performance incentives for readership growth and content quality.

  • Flexible schedule, remote work, and collaborative culture.

Send your résumé, 2–3 examples of edited or written financial content, and a brief note describing how you’d build a Finance Play newsroom that’s always two moves ahead of the market.
