The Omaha World-Herald is seeking a dynamic, hard-charging editor to help shape the newsroom’s digital strategy and lead its next phase of growth. 

This is an opportunity to help mold the digital future for a newsroom based in a growing city recently named by Forbes as the No. 1 city in America to move to. The Omaha region has a ferocious appetite for local sports and a unique significance in the national political landscape.  

The person in this role will be a key player in growing The World-Herald's digital audience and subscriber base.  

We’re seeking a hard-working, strategic thinker who thrives under pressure, can craft compelling, accurate headlines on tight deadlines, and embraces digital-focused storytelling and experimentation.  

Leadership experience is preferred. Successful candidates will be based in Omaha or willing to move to the metro area.  

Responsibilities include:  

·         Shaping the next phase of digital growth with an emphasis on engaging, differentiated content and subscriber retention

·         Editing and posting written content produced by other journalists 

·         Writing compelling headlines that can entice readers on multiple platforms  

·         Creating written and visual content for social media  

·         Producing and editing videos and podcasts 

·         Being a key, ongoing advocate for digital transformation 

·         Reporting and producing written content for The World-Herald's digital platforms, with a focus on timely, accurate reporting that can reach large audiences
