Description:
The Greenwood Commonwealth, a twice weekly newspaper in the Mississippi Delta, is looking for a versatile managing editor to assume the leadership of our newsroom.
The managing editor's job is a good fit for someone who enjoys wearing a lot of hats: writer, page designer, copy editor, social media skills and sometimes coach to young reporters. Experience with both hard and softer (lifestyles) news helpful. Good working knowledge of QuarkXpress or Adobe InDesign essential.
The Commonwealth and its parent company, Emmerich Newspapers, are heavily invested in making the digital transformation while also putting a high priority on maintaining a quality print product. The print edition is distributed on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Commonwealth also publishes a quarterly magazine, Leflore Illustrated.
Salary is $40,000 to $45,000 and includes paid vacation, health insurance, life insurance, 401k match and other benefits.
Please send resume and three writing and three layout samples to Brent Maze, editor and publisher, at bmaze@gwcommonwealth.com.
