The Concord Bridge, a young but award-winning non-profit weekly, seeks a seasoned education and enterprise reporter to help inform our smart and intensely engaged readers.

Covering our K-12 school system, the administration, and the School Committee(s) is a big part of this hybrid role. Take us beyond the meetings (and way beyond the district’s press release mill) to unearth compelling stories about student (and teacher) performance, mental health, parent concerns, equity and achievement gaps, and spending. 

When you’re not covering schools, help us pull back the curtain on the controversial proposed expansion of private jet hangar space at Hanscom Airfield. Delve into the changing socioeconomics and demographics of historic Concord, Massachusetts. Whether on environment, public safety, or the latest town controversy (and we have many), work with our municipal and community reporters on the big swings that show how The Bridge punches above its weight. 

You’ll showcase your skill at making public records requests, analyzing the resulting documents and datasets, and explaining what matters in clean, compelling copy elevated by the right photos, graphics, and maps.  

As our experiment in hyperlocal news turns 3, we are looking to augment our team with a strong writer and enthusiastic colleague with at least five years of full-time reporting experience. (Sorry, recent grads — hit us up down the road.) You must be able to get to and around Concord (20 miles west of Boston) regularly.
