Description:
SUMMARY:
Report, write and edit content for Ag Alert and other Farm Bureau
communications. Additionally, contribute to content strategy, ghostwrite,
support media relations and social media efforts, and collaborate with the
Production Designer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Report and write
news articles about California agriculture for Ag Alert.
- Produce written
content for other communications channels.
- Align coverage
and content with Farm Bureau values.
- Take photos and
videos for articles and archive digital content.
- Assist editors
in editing content.
- Write and manage
selected newsletters.
- Contribute to
content strategy discussions and editorial planning.
- Support Farm
Bureau policy goals by helping to develop articles, op-eds and other content.
- Ghostwrite
articles, op-eds and other content as needed.
- Collaborate with
internal teams to accomplish communications goals.
- Represent Farm
Bureau at events, attend occasional overnight conferences, and build
relationships with advertising and sponsor partners.
- Other
duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA
degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum
of three years’ experience as a writer for a print news publication.
Agriculture, environmental or legislative reporting experience preferred.
- Demonstrated
proficiency with digital photography and smartphone video.
- Ability
to write cohesive copy, adhering to AP style.
- Strong
editing skills and attention to detail.
- The
ability to multitask and consistently meet deadlines.
- The ability and willingness to travel, occasionally involving an overnight stay.
- Requires use of personal vehicle for work-related travel; must maintain valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Mileage reimbursed according to company policy.
