Description:
Job Title: Associate Editor
Reports to: Associate Publisher
Location: Remote
Position Summary: The Associate Editor will help shape a publication dedicated to providing doctors with the latest strategies, tools, and insights for running successful practices. The Associate Editor will be responsible for editing manuscripts on a wide array of practice management, business, and clinical topics, consistently finding new ways to connect with a medical business audience in print and online.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review, edit, and fact check submitted articles and online content for grammar, style, tone, and accuracy.
• Create headlines, captions, and callouts as needed.
• Ensure all content aligns with the publication’s voice, editorial policies, and audience needs.
• Assign articles to professional business writers and doctors.
• Communicate with sales staff and vendors on company-focused content.
• Work with production on selecting relevant charts, images, and case study visuals.
• Check for legal and ethical compliance, including rights and permissions for media assets.
• Conduct interviews and write news articles, features, and sidebars.
• Manage website content.
• Edit/create/tailor content for social media channels.
• Manage schedules and work with the editorial and sales teams on content development.
• Work with clients, sales, and production/design to meet all deadlines as required for publication and postings.
• Proofread layouts before publication.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• BS/BA degree or higher.
• Minimum of 2 years in an editorial capacity. Medical journalism experience is a plus.
• Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills.
• Strong command of English grammar and usage.
• Familiarity with WordPress for posting content.
• Possess a meticulous eye for details and be internet savvy.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office, CMS systems, and video conferencing platforms.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualities:
• Comfortable communicating with medical professionals and interpreting business/clinical content.
• Strong curiosity about the intersection of healthcare and business innovation.
• Collaborative, resourceful, and detail oriented.
Travel:
• Attend trade shows and conferences as needed.
