Carpenter Media Group is looking for a sports reporter to cover a vibrant high school sports scene in Washington County, Neb., located just north of Omaha. The right person will be able to hit deadlines, solve problems, generate ideas and tell stories that engage the digital, newsletter, social and print audiences for the Washington County Enterprise. He or she will provide timely game coverage for appropriate platforms while also being able to generate insightful feature stories on players and coaches and post an ongoing schedule of events for the three high schools in Washington County for print readers. In addition to regular sports coverage, the sports reporter will be primarily responsible for fall, winter and spring sports preview publications, and should be ready and willing to help with non-sports duties as assigned. Our next sports reporter will benefit from following in the steps of a nine-year veteran who has created excellent relationships with area coaches and other critical sources. The sports reporter will coordinate coverage with Executive Editor Kevin Bumgarner, but he or she should feel comfortable arranging his or her own schedule with minimal supervision. The Washington County Enterprise has offices in Blair, which is less than 30 minutes away from Omaha and offers all the amenities of big city living.
