Fast Filer News Reporter

Just the News is looking for a fast-file reporter who can assist our breaking news team with writing spot news and news that often requires some additional reporting, context and background before publication. The raw content for many of these stories will be from newsmaker interviews off JTN podcasts and

television shows.

· Work with JTN’s news managers and senior correspondents to produce multiple long and short-form stories with embedded video and photos that capture the most compelling breaking news each day.

· Develop strong headlines that maximize the impact and reach of each article.

· Develop and maintain a network of sources in politics and government

· Efficiently clipping video and audio news highlights from JTN’s daily television programming and podcast interviews and writing text accompaniment

· Work with the social media and video teams to maximize the multimedia aspects of each article and maximize audience reach.

· Ensure each story has the most compelling embedded SEO to maximize the discovery of content on search platforms.

· Fulfill other news duties and responsibilities as assigned

· Travel, if necessary

· Work weekends and nights as coverage requires

· Have at least three (3) years of Washington journalism experience.

· Must be a skilled journalist and breaking news writer, with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in writing stories and embedding multimedia content.

· Have a strong understanding of Politics on a national and international scale.

· Must have a relentless commitment to accuracy, precision, fairness and balance.

· Must have a strong sense of what makes a compelling breaking news headline.

· Must have a strong eye for the most compelling quotes and newsworthy sound bites within a news talk program.

· Must be able to quickly clip videos, audio and photos to embed in each story.

· Be self-sufficient and able to multitask, coordinating coverage with editors

· Familiarity with editing software Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Audition is desirable

This is a full-time role represented by Bentley Media Group, LLC, with a salary range to be determined depending on experience, and generous benefits. The office is located in Washington D.C. and applicants must be willing to work out of the office which is located at 1717 Pennsylvania Ave.
