Description:
Community News Reporter
The Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, a consistent award-winner
from state and regional press associations — including “Newspaper of the Year”
honors in the most recent New Hampshire Press Association awards — is seeking a
motivated, community-minded reporter to cover local news, government, people,
and events in the beautiful Monadnock region of New Hampshire.
This is an opportunity to do meaningful work and make a real
difference in a community that values strong local journalism.
News reporters share in producing breaking news, community
coverage, business, enterprise, investigative and feature stories. We all work
some evenings, weekends and holidays. This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven
environment requiring strong multitasking skills and the ability to produce
compelling stories that matter to readers.
What You’ll Do:
- Report on town government, schools, community events and write feature stories
- Write clear, accurate and engaging stories for print and online
- Take photos and video for multimedia storytelling
- Build relationships with local residents and leaders
- Help shape coverage ideas and contribute to special projects
What We’re Looking For:
- Excellent writing and reporting skills
- Curiosity, accuracy and a commitment to fairness
- Ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple assignments
- Comfort with digital publishing tools and social media
- Prior journalism experience or a journalism/communications degree preferred
The Ledger-Transcript is owned by Newspapers of New England,
a family-owned company with a commitment to serious community journalism.
We offer a supportive newsroom environment, competitive pay,
and the chance to do hands-on journalism in a region known for its small-town
charm, civic life and scenic beauty.
