Job Title: Lead Journalist – Community-Focused Storyteller

Company: Stonecom Media
Location: Upper Cumberland, Tennessee
Job Type: Full-Time
Industry: Media/Journalism

Are You the Storyteller We’re Looking For?

Stonecom, the Upper Cumberland’s elite media company—home to eight powerful radio stations and TheUCNow.com, the region’s go-to community platform—is searching for a lead journalist who thrives on local storytelling, grassroots reporting, and sharing meaningful content with the people who need it most.

This isn't just another job. This is a calling—for a writer who can think fast, write faster, and inform with impact. If you care about what’s happening in your community, if you believe in the power of local journalism, and if your passion is using words to move people—we want you.

What You’ll Do:

  • Write and report on a wide range of daily topics: news, people, events, culture, and more.
  • Lead the editorial tone and storytelling strategy across our platforms.
  • Engage with the community, not just report on it—this is journalism that lives where you live.
  • Collaborate closely with our on-air, digital, and leadership teams.
  • Drive meaningful conversations and elevate the standard of local news.

Who You Are:

  • natural storyteller who can craft compelling, clear, and accurate content on deadline.
  • strong self-starter who can chase leads, find fresh angles, and write with purpose.
  • Not just a writer, but a communicator—someone who connects with readers and inspires action.
  • You’ve got leadership instincts, a strong news sense, and an eye for stories others miss.
  • You don’t want a job—you want to do amazing work that matters.

Must-Haves:

  • A portfolio of great writing that shows range, voice, and impact.
  • Fast, accurate writing and editing skills.
  • Proven experience in journalism, writing, or multimedia storytelling.
  • Passion for local news and community engagement.
  • A mindset for excellence and ownership in everything you do.

What We Offer:

  • A dynamic newsroom inside one of the most innovative and respected media companies in the region.
  • The chance to lead, shape, and grow the voice of a community.
  • A supportive, high-performance culture where elite work is recognized and celebrated.
  • A stunning place to live: the Upper Cumberland, rich with natural beauty, tight-knit communities, and a deep love for local storytelling.

Important Note:
This role is not for people who just want a job. It’s for those who want to build something, share truth, and do journalism the way it’s meant to be done—honest, immediate, and impactful.
