Summary:
The Greeley (Colo.) Tribune is seeking an enthusiastic, community-focused reporter to explore and share the most exciting events, activities and recreational opportunities in Greeley and across Weld County. The lifestyle and entertainment reporter will cover everything from the area’s largest events such as the Greeley Stampede and the Greeley Arts Picnic to everyday dining at local restaurants, drinking at local breweries and shopping at local stores. Other coverage opportunities include the local arts scene in addition to live music, theater and comedy at intimate venues and larger venues that attract nationally recognized celebrities.
In addition to sharing and coordinating coverage throughout the Prairie Mountain Media family, the Greeley Tribune shares coverage of statewide interest with The Denver Post, giving our staff the opportunity to have their work featured to a larger audience and gain recognition beyond our local community.
The ideal candidate will creatively present opportunities for unique experiences as well as features of local businesses, touring acts and the people behind the area’s arts and culture scene.
Must live in the Greeley area or be willing to relocate (no relocation assistance offered).
What you will do:
Produce high-quality feature and enterprise stories, as well as breaking news stories, for our website and newspaper that prints four days per week
Efficiently track events big and small to prioritize coverage of what matters most to readers
Cultivate sources throughout the region to stay on top of any new events, businesses or shows
Work directly and collaboratively with editors and reporters on story ideas
File stories on tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality
Have multiple stories in progress at once, prioritizing them for timeliness and relevance
What you will bring:
Proficiency in AP style and newswriting structure
A college degree and journalism experience
Ability to take photos when the staff photographer isn’t available; staff camera can be provided as needed
Must be able to work the occasional weekend or holiday
Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly wage is $19.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
