Description:
FauquierNow.com, a digital publication from InsideNoVa/Rappahannock Media in Northern Virginia, is seeking a go-getter to join its team as a reporter.
The ideal candidate will have reporting experience, whether in college or the professional workforce, proven clips, a tenacious work ethic and basic understanding of photography, video and social media.
Fauquier County, population roughly 75,000, is part of the Washington metropolitan area, about an hour from D.C. While it’s still considered a rural area, growth, development and agriculture are a major part of our news coverage. This reporter will track and report on the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors, Fauquier School Board, Warrenton Town Council and other local government entities. Feature stories and profiles are part of the job, but it’s primarily a hard news position.
The reporter is strongly encouraged to locate in or near Fauquier County.
The best way to get a feel for the position is to browse FauquierNow.com/News and read our coverage. InsideNoVa/Rappahannock Media reporters are expected to file at least one story per day.
To apply, submit the following to tbaratko@fauquiernow.com, subject line “Open Reporter”:
•
A one-page cover letter explaining why you want
this position and why we should want you
•
Three of your strongest clips (links to stories
are fine)
•
Contact information for three references
We are moving quickly to fill this position, so don’t procrastinate. (In fact, if you’re prone to procrastination, the role is not for you.)

•
Work from home. While we have offices in
Woodbridge, Warrenton, Culpeper and Little Washington (Rappahannock County),
most positions offer remote or hybrid work options.

addition to FauquierNow (over 810,00 visitors in 2024), the biggest stories
from FauquierNow also appear on InsideNoVa.com (nearly 7 million visitors in

west.
•
Family atmosphere. We're a small team, about 30
full- and part-time employees, some of whom have worked for InsideNoVa or our
other products for over 20 years.
•
Paid time off. Full-time employees receive paid
holidays and paid time off, depending on years of service with the company.
