Inside INdiana Business, a division of IBJ Media, is seeking a digital and radio reporter to cover business, economy and government stories across the state of Indiana.

We’re looking for a reporter who can write stories quickly and accurately as well as voice and edit several stories a week for our twice-daily radio reports. This reporter will serve as a backup for producing those daily reports when other staffers are on vacation.

A successful candidate could come to us from primarily a radio background or from a print or digital background with limited experience in audio and a strong desire to learn. This position will require audio editing, which we can teach if needed. Knowledge of Adobe Audition is preferred but not required.

Inside INdiana Business is an award-winning multimedia news platform that distributes business news through an Emmy award-winning weekly television show, website, several email newsletters and two daily radio reports.

Inside INdiana Business is based in Indianapolis, but this staffer can live and work anyplace in Indiana. Periodic travel to Indianapolis will be required, and we expect the reporter will do occasional traveling within the state (day trips) for stories.

IBJ Media is the home of three well-respected news brands: Inside INdiana Business, Indianapolis Business Journal and The Indiana Lawyer. This digital/radio reporter will be part of a larger newsroom of more than 20 journalists. The company and Inside INdiana Business are seeking to make a bigger impact statewide through video, radio, events, statewide emails and regional emails based in South Bend and Evansville.

Responsibilities

·      Writing and reporting for Inside INdiana Business’s twice-daily newsletters with a focus on generating statewide stories.

·      Writing and recording radio stories for Inside INdiana Business’s daily radio reports, which are distributed to radio stations.

·      Serving as a backup for producing daily radio reports.

Inside INdiana Business is based in an affordable capital city with a metro area population of more than 2 million people but in a smaller newsroom with plenty of opportunity to make a big impact. Our offices are located on the city’s historic Monument Circle—the literal and figurative heart of Indianapolis, just blocks from stadiums, the Statehouse, great restaurants and more.

But you could also make your home in any of Indiana’s thriving mid-sized cities—including Fort Wayne, Evansville, Bloomington, Lafayette, Muncie or Terre Haute—or in one the state’s great suburban or rural communities.

Successful candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
