Weekly newspaper in Alaska looking for a reporter who also can take decent photos but, most importantly, would enjoy working in a small town, making friends in a small town, getting to know the people, being patient with residents who are not always accustomed to being interviewed, and becoming part of the town so that they see the news as they walk around and people tell them about the news. This is a get-out-of-the office job; people in small towns like to see you and get to know you. Stories include City Hall, high school sports, history and people features, the outdoors, civic issues, most everything you might imagine and more. The job is all about reporting on local issues and lives. Inquisitiveness a must. Curiosity a must. Accuracy a must. The rest is easy.
