Immediate Job Opening: Sports Photographer/Reporter
The New Pine Plains Herald
The New Pine Plains Herald, an award-winning nonprofit weekly newsroom serving the rural New York communities of Pine Plains, Ancram, Gallatin, Milan, and Stanford, is hiring a sports photographer/reporter. Since launching in 2022, the Herald has been recognized as a finalist for the Institute for Nonprofit News’ Community Champion Award and honored with multiple New York Press Association awards for excellence in community journalism. We are dedicated to telling the stories that matter most to our towns — from town hall to Friday night lights.
Responsibilities:
Photograph home and away games for Stissing Mountain Jr/Sr High School.
Gather final scores and key stats for all games.
File concise game reports (up to three per week) by Thursday evening of each week.
Pitch and write longer features for major games or broader sports-related stories.
Compensation:
$50–$75 per game. Negotiable depending on experience and quality of photography.
Higher rates considered for extended features.
Requirements:
Strong photography skills.
Reliable transportation (car required).
Ability to meet deadlines and file on time.
Flexible schedule to cover games as assigned.
