Full-Time Reporter | Reporter & Farmer – Webster, South Dakota

You'll cover a wide range of stories – from city and county government to school boards, business developments, human interest features, and community news. We’re seeking an enthusiastic and curious reporter who’s ready to jump in and help carry forward our publication's proud legacy. You’ll thrive here if you:

• Have a strong appetite for uncovering local stories and humanizing the news;

• Are driven to serve as a watchdog for local government;

• Write with empathy, accuracy and integrity;

• Want to be part of a collaborative, supportive newsroom.

This role also includes:

• Covering government meetings, business stories and general features;

• Taking your own photographs (equipment provided);

• Assisting with pagination (Mac environment; Adobe skills a plus);

• Occasionally pitching in with other office duties as part of our team-oriented culture.

Desired Qualifications:

• Strong writing, reporting and editing skills

• Comfortable with fact-checking and research

• Public relations and communication abilities

• Self-starter with attention to detail

• Experience in photography

• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign/Photoshop (preferred, not required)
