About the Role:
The Washington Examiner is seeking a sharp, creative Social Media Writer and Multimedia Producer to join our newsroom’s audience development team. In this role, you’ll help translate breaking news, investigative features, and compelling human-interest stories into engaging social media content that resonates with a wide range of readers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write clear, accurate, and engaging social posts that drive traffic and build loyalty across Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
- Collaborate with editors, reporters, and multimedia teams to identify stories with social potential and tailor content for each platform.
- Produce and edit multimedia content—short-form videos, reels, graphics, and infographics—to complement written posts and boost reach.
- Contribute to social media campaigns and special projects around key news events.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience writing for social media or producing multimedia content, ideally for a news organization or media brand.
- Strong writing and headline skills, with the ability to adapt for different platforms.
- Familiarity with social media scheduling tools and analytics platforms.
- Proficiency with video and graphic design tools (Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Canva, or equivalent).
- A passion for news, with a sharp sense of how to frame stories for maximum social impact.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom environment.
