Role Summary:

Watershed is seeking a seasoned, entrepreneurial Vice President of Stakeholder Intelligence to join the leadership team of our fast-growing, boutique media intelligence and insights firm specializing in the energy, transportation, financial services, manufacturing, and health sectors. The job requires enhancement of our strategic initiatives through delivering and expanding on our stakeholder analysis services to clients. Drawing on deep experience in communications, public relations, journalism, intelligence, or advocacy campaigns, the Vice President will bring formidable planning, analytic, technological, and writing acumen to delivering value to major client accounts, taking responsibility for both client success and growth. The Vice President will play a lead role in guiding Watershed’s analytical strategies and methodologies, focused on extracting new useful intelligence for our clients about their key stakeholders and influencers. The Vice President will also contribute to sales & marketing initiatives, technology initiatives, and ongoing thought leadership work. Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President role is viewed as a senior leader in the company, with ample opportunity for growth within Watershed.



  • Develop and lead the stakeholder intelligence strategy to support the company's objectives and enhance its positioning.
  • Own the day-to-day relationship with assigned clients, managing communications, planning, budget, feedback, and account growth.
  • Lead a team of professionals in the collection, mapping, analysis, and interpretation of publicly available stakeholder data to produce actionable insights.
  • Work closely with client teams, including communications and executive leadership, to integrate stakeholder perspectives into strategic plans and communications.
  • Present findings and strategic recommendations to client executive management.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and staff on new product & service development, taking into consideration client requests, market opportunities, and data- & technology-enabled innovations.
  • Actively support sales and business development initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and methodologies in stakeholder and media intelligence.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and ethical standards.
  • Identify and participate in thought leadership opportunities to help promote Watershed.
  • Create persuasive presentations and memos that showcase the value of Watershed’s work for clients and other internal & external audiences, including company blog posts and whitepapers.
  • Play a central role in developing the company culture, including hiring and mentoring staff.
  • Travel for client and sales meetings, approx. 5%.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in journalism, communications, stakeholder engagement, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership and account management role.
  • Deep experience leading high-profile client accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of open source intelligence (OSINT) sources and methods, including media analytics tools & platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with management and external partners.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills, capable of conveying complex data insights in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • Data visualization experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities on deadline, with experience planning for and recruiting extra resources when needed.
  • High degree of precision and attention to detail.
