Are you a designer looking for a new adventure? We are growing and looking for the right person to join our team.

Port Townsend sits in the rain shadow (meaning most of the rain misses us) of the Olympic Mountains at the end on the shores of the Salish Sea. Rich in maritime history (home to the Wooden Boat Festival) it features a vibrant arts community and a truly engaged citizenry. People here care about their community and they care about The Port Townsend and Jefferson County Leader.

Our small staff works well together. We eagerly embrace and promote standards-based journalism as what separates us from other readily available content.

The person who gets this job might be a (close-to) entry-level newspaper and ad designer, or a more experienced graphic designer who can grow quickly into an art director role. In addtion to our well-read local paper we have numerous special sections or magazines poised for growth. Key responsibilities include designing news and feature content for our traditional, vibrant weekly newspaper, which often features a B section, along with special sections/magazines. Salary commensurate with experience.

Experience in Adobe InDesign and InCopy, along with other pagination software, is important.

Port Townsend is a progressive city of 15,000 with a rural area that encompasses some of the Olympic Mountain range from which many rivers flow into the Hood Canal fjord, the Juan de Fuca strait and the Pacific ocean. In addtional to being beautiful, it’s interesting. We're about two hours from Seattle and a very popular tourist destination, particularly in season.  EOE
