Melara Enterprises seeks a business journalist to join our team in developing and producing original content for multiple news distribution channels, including Baton Rouge Business Report monthly magazine; businessreport.com; Daily Report, our twice-daily e-newsletter; multimedia projects; and social media.

We offer a unique opportunity to be part of a national award-winning multimedia company, a strong regional brand, and an organization with a rich history of excellence and community service. Career opportunities with us mean working hard to achieve our mission in a collaborative and inclusive culture—but also having fun together. We have a talented team with diverse people, ideas, interests, and skills; we favor an entrepreneurial spirit; and we reward excellence and achievement.

As a pivotal member of our Business Report team, you'll dive into the heart of news creation, crafting compelling business and community stories across various platforms. Your role includes:

  • Innovative Content Creation: You'll be the architect of original, engaging content for Greater Baton Rouge Business Report monthly magazine and multiple special editions, businessreport.com, and our popular twice daily Daily Report e-newsletter. Your creativity will also flourish in multimedia projects and across our active social media channels.

  • Collaborative Journalism: Team up with our broader editorial team across multiple brands―including [225], inRegister and 10/12 Industry Report―to redefine our print and online news landscape. Your input will be crucial in maintaining our status as the go-to source for business and critical community topics in the Capital Region market.

  • Strategic Storytelling: Regular collaboration with our Executive Editor and Assistant/Managing Editor will empower you to craft groundbreaking enterprise stories. Team up with our digital content editor to deliver a multimedia story. Your content, always first and analytical, will engage and provide our digital and print audience with deeper insights into key issues.

  • Community Connection: Expand your journalistic reach by building a strong network of sources. Engage actively in the community to bring untold stories to light.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in journalism or a related field.

  • A proven track record in newsgathering and writing in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

  • A strong commitment to accuracy and adhering to the highest ethical standards of journalism.

  • Excellent news judgment with a deep understanding of business, politics, community, and other relevant areas.

  • A collaborative spirit, driven by the pursuit of excellence and a passion for impactful journalism.
