Cowboy State Daily, Wyoming’s largest news organization, is looking to hire regional reporters in the state, full-time or freelance.

 

Specifically, we are looking for general assignment reporters in northeast Wyoming, southwest Wyoming, and southeast Wyoming.

 

The ideal candidate already lives here. We will also consider candidates who live in the Rocky Mountain region.

 

We’re a bunch of talented, experienced journalists who thought Wyoming was being underserved, and we knew we could do it better. Plus, we do it without an agenda or bias. We don't preach to our readers.

 

Our readership has soared over the last two years. We’re the most-read news organization in the state and we continue to grow. We continue to expand.

 

We write stories that people actually care about.

 

We will never be acquired by a hedge fund. We will never be part of a chain. 

 

You will: 

 

Stay on top of the news in your region and you know how to sniff it out

Develop trustworthy sources

Produce consistent, high-quality copy and know how to meet deadlines

Work with others. We have reporters all over the state, and we all help each other out

Come to daily budget meetings loaded with story ideas

Take photos and video, on occasion

Be comfortable going on camera. We produce a daily video news segment

 

Requirements: 

 

Bachelor’s degree 

3+ years of journalism experience 

Outgoing, great communicator 

Ability to work independently 

Must possess excellent writing skills and knowledge of AP style

Must be extraordinarily competitive
