Description:

The Observer-Reporter, a 15,000-circulation daily newspaper that publishes six days a week in Southwestern Pennsylvania, has an immediate opening for a full-time general assignment reporter with a passion for community news and a solid background in multimedia.

The successful candidate will be a curious self-starter with a knack for storytelling and capable of producing clean, concise copy on deadline. General assignments range from local government and spot news coverage to feature and project writing. Experience in court reporting is a plus, and photography skills are essential.

Prior reporting experience is preferred, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field is required, as are a valid driver’s license and reliable mode of transportation. New college graduates are encouraged to apply.

Our newsroom is staffed by an award-winning team of journalists who provide coverage for the Observer-Reporter in Washington and Greene counties, as well as its sister publication, the Herald-Standard, in neighboring Fayette County, as well as two weeklies, The Almanac, which circulates in southern Allegheny County, and the Greene County Messenger.

The company offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Email cover letter, resume and three writing samples to Executive Editor Liz Rogers at lrogers@observer-reporter.com.

No phone calls, please.
