Summary:

The Reporter Intern will work closely with the editorial team to create content for digital platforms that engages audiences and supports the newsroom’s mission. They will develop, report, analyze and create original news and feature stories in text and other forms, including, when appropriate, video, audio, podcasts, Facebook Live events, simple graphics, etc.


What you will do:

  • Cover news events in the local market

  • Write 3-5 stories per week as assigned

  • 40 hours per week; shifts will generally be Monday-Friday business hours, but special coverage may call for weekend or evening week, which will be communicated in advance

  • Source Development and relationship building to attain new events in the are

  • Contribute to pitching story ideas

  • Shoot and edit photos on an as needed basis


What you will bring:

  • Ability to write along with an understanding of AP Style

  • Strong grammar and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated interest in print and online journalism

  • Reliable transportation is necessary

  • Travel within the local market for story coverage

  • Ability to interview sources

  • Actively working towards a college degree

  • Coursework in journalism or communication preferred

  • A valid driver's license
