Government Reporter-Hamilton, MT

The Ravalli Republic, headquartered in one of Lee Enterprises’ fastest-growing local news markets in picturesque southwestern Montana, is seeking an ambitious and enterprising news reporter to cover local government.

This new full-time position in our digital-first newsroom will provide opportunities to write daily news, dig deep on policy decisions that impact residents across six municipalities in Ravalli County, and explore issues and trends in the backyard of the Bitterroot National Forest.

The Bitterroot Valley is home to the hit TV show “Yellowstone,” which is filmed just south of Darby, and our coverage area also includes a campus of the National Institutes of Health and multiple U.S. Forest Service ranger districts.

The Ravalli Republic, based in Hamilton, about an hour from Missoula, the state’s second-largest city and home to the University of Montana, is part of the state’s largest news organization and works in partnership with Lee Montana’s 50-plus journalists in Billings, Missoula, Helena and Butte.
