Description:

General assignment reporter – Herald-Standard

At the daily Herald-Standard in Uniontown, we’re looking for a naturally curious reporter who’s ready to dig into what’s happening in Fayette County.

This role offers the opportunity to hone your writing and photography skills across a number of disciplines, from breaking news to coverage of local government, and from feature stories to school districts.

As you can tell, to succeed as a general assignment reporter, you have to be versatile and willing to constantly learn new things. We need someone who isn’t afraid to say “I don’t know” and ask the necessary questions to best convey the information to our readers. We also need someone who can pinpoint why and how something is important, and fairly and accurately report that information.

Our mission is to serve our readers. You will be the conduit for that.

When you join our team, you’ll be a part of a combined newsroom for the Herald-Standard, daily Observer-Reporter and weekly Greene County Messenger, working with award-winning journalists and editors who are passionate about what we do.

We welcome applications from both seasoned newspaper veterans and those just starting out in their journalism career.

If you’re interested, please provide a resume with references, and clips of your work. They can be sent to Jennifer Garofalo, managing editor, at jgarofalo@heraldstandard.com.

When applying, mention you saw this opening listed at JournalismJobs.com.
