The Lufkin Daily News and Charm magazine are seeking a feature writer and general assignments reporter. The ideal candidate will have a passion for crafting compelling stories for our popular monthly magazine about the people, places and events that make Deep East Texas unique, along with the ability to write stories for our newspaper and its website.

Writing duties for Charm will encompass a wide range of lifestyle features, while beat responsibilities for the newspaper could include a variety of news and feature stories, with an emphasis on local schools and community events.

You should have a strong interest in community reporting and a passion for telling engaging stories. 

The candidate must work well under pressure and have the ability to meet tight deadlines, yet be flexible enough to adjust to changing situations. Applicant must be creative and possess a strong work ethic. We're passionate about our role in our community and seek journalists and storytellers who share that passion. 

Social media and basic photography skills are required. A journalism degree or comparable experience is preferred, but we will train the right candidate. 

The position offers paid vacation and sick time, 40l(k) and health benefits.
