The Weatherford Democrat and Cleburne Times-Review are seeking an energetic sports writer to join their award-winning newsrooms and highlight Johnson, Parker and Palo Pinto counties.

Apply if you have sports newsroom experience, versatile journalism skills (writing, editing, story-telling, design and pagination), print and digital background and the ability to cover sporting events, breaking news, features and generate content that readers both want and need. 

The sports writer must be self-motivated and community-oriented, connecting with our readers through social media and personal access. 

Dependable transportation is required, experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop are a plus.

The coverage area includes all Johnson, Parker and Palo Pinto sports. The sports writer is also responsible for managing stringers to help cover games.

Weatherford is the county seat for Parker County and home to Weatherford College. Cleburne is the county seat for Johnson County and home to a Hill College campus. Cleburne is also home to an independent league baseball team, the Cleburne Railroaders, who partner with the Texas Rangers. Both cities are located about 30 minutes from Fort Worth and are enjoying robust growth.
