ABOUT THE ROLE 

As a Freelance Journalist for Aperture, you’ll play a crucial role in developing a new documentary style format we’re making for the channel. You’ll be responsible for researching, chasing interview subjects, writing and investigating. You’ll be covering  various stories surrounding philosophy, psychology, big tech, space, and the human condition. 

With direction from the Showrunner, you’ll be working to help investigate and research a 30 minute documentary piece for YouTube. This is a remote, freelance position.

ABOUT YOU

• You are creative and detail-oriented

• You have a strong portfolio that covers topics related to the Aperture channel

• You’re a diligent researcher who leaves no stone unturned when covering a story

• You can take direction, are receptive to feedback and communicate clearly

• You’re able to translate a complex story into something accessible to a wider audience

• You have some understanding or experience working in the YouTube space

QUALIFICATIONS YOU BRING

• Experience writing and researching feature length stories

• Experience investigating complex topics, dealing with multiple people and story lines

• Excellent command of the English language, with an ability to write in an engaging, clear, and grammatically correct manner.

• Expert in writing, researching and uncovering stories

• Receptive to notes, feedback and collaboration

• Ability to efficiently work remotely without direct supervision

• Ability to communicate effectively and timely, working as part of a team

• Bonus if you can appear on camera or provide voice over for the video 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Investigate, research and play a hand in writing our documentary style episodes, with direction from the Showrunner

• Be able to find interview subjects that could potentially appear on camera

• Work and collaborate with the Showrunner to make a compelling video for our audience
