The River Valley Democrat-Gazette has an exciting opportunity for an entry-level reporter to cover the vibrant, smaller cities surrounding Fort Smith. The ideal candidate will be eager to develop sources, engage with community leaders, and have a thirst for learning. The candidate will be responsible for delivering news on deadline and performing other assigned duties. Additionally, they will have the chance to create compelling features that showcase the unique people and places that make the River Valley a special place to live and work.

We’re seeking a dynamic reporter who can craft engaging stories across multiple platforms, including social media. This role, which may involve some evening and weekend work, reports to the River Valley Democrat-Gazette editor. While a college degree is preferred, we also value relevant experience. Proficiency in AP style and a solid understanding of journalism principles are essential. Experience at a college, weekly, or daily publication is a definite advantage.
