Description:

The Georgia Trust for Local News is looking for an experienced journalist to join our news startup in Macon as a general assignment reporter.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for accurate and timely local journalism that serves Bibb County. The reporter will need to work collaboratively with news and advertising staff while also owning their beat, balancing long-term projects with daily reporting.

In addition to news coverage, the general assignment reporter is responsible for assisting in the pagination of our weekly print edition. Experience with InDesign, utilizing a CMS, shooting photos and recording video is preferred. This position reports to GTLN executive editor Caleb Slinkard.

GTLN offers employee benefits including insurance options, paid vacation, holidays and mileage reimbursement. More detail will be provided to applicants meeting minimum qualifications.

This is not a remote position. Our office is based in Macon, Georgia. Reporters are required to have a valid Georgia driver’s license, reliable transportation and vehicle insurance.

Applicants should send a resume, cover letter and clips to caleb@ntln.org.

The GTLN, which also operates 18 newspapers across Middle and South Georgia, is a subsidiary of the National Trust for Local News, a nonprofit committed to conserving, transforming and sustaining vibrant community news enterprises across the country. The Macon project is made possible by a $5 million grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
