Are you a dogged reporter with a passion for holding decision-makers accountable? The York Dispatch is seeking someone like you to join our award-winning team of watchdog journalists. As the eyes and ears of the community, you will play a crucial role in uncovering stories that impact the lives of our readers and holding those in power accountable for their actions. You'd be covering York County government, our state lawmakers, and U.S. Rep. Scott Perry using all the tools of a modern newsroom.

Responsibilities:

• Obtain and analyze public documents using the Right-to-Know Law to uncover stories of public interest.

• Cover a wide range of issues affecting our readers, from broadband internet expansion to the rise of misinformation and extremism.

• Utilize storytelling tools such as databases, social media, and video to engage our audience.

• Collaborate with a dedicated team of journalists to produce compelling and accurate accountability journalism.

• Attend government meetings, press conferences, and community events while also developing deep sourcing to help tell the stories that aren't publicly disseminated.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred.

• Proven experience in investigative journalism and obtaining public records. • Strong analytical skills and the ability to explain complex subjects in simple terms.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to ask probing questions of decision-makers. • Comfortable working in a fast-paced news environment with tight deadlines.

• Knowledge of central Pennsylvania and its diverse communities is a plus.
