POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced, high energy, self-motivated person in the Austin area to join our sales team in selling cross-platform advertising products for the Austin Monthly and Austin Home brands. The Advertising Sales Account Executive will work with clients to create marketing plans that utilize our various offerings, including print and digital products and event sponsorships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a current book of business and recommend up-sell opportunities to existing accounts by pitching them on the value of new (and new to them) products that fit client needs
  • Expand sales by qualifying best prospects to benefit from magazine audiences and localized advertising offerings, connecting with businesses that need to enhance brand awareness and/or consideration to capture or protect market share and seize new opportunities 
  • Maintain activity level and closing ratio adequate to meet or exceed sales goals
  • Ability to manage your time effectively in a work from home environment, acting as a brand ambassador of Austin Monthly and Austin Home through emails, calls, in-person meetings, drop-ins, and weekly in-person team meetings
  • Schedule appointments; determine prospect’s needs and challenges; make initial presentations; determine best solutions; prepare contracts; close sales; share live ads; analyze and deliver performance post campaign
  • Work with production department to facilitate timely delivery of client advertising materials
  • Update job knowledge by participating in training and educational opportunities


QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and skills:  

  • Microsoft Office, Google Docs Editors, and Salesforce
  • 3+ years experience selling digital, print, and event advertising 
  • Professional and strong skills in presentation, communication, prospecting, closing, motivation, planning, persistence, territory management, and meeting sales goals

Education: College degree preferred

Physical demands for this position to be fulfilled successfully and any known environmental conditions of the workplace are listed below:

  • Physical: Seated at desk, with chair, using computer and work from home office 
  • Environmental: Located in quiet small office setting
  • Ergonomic: Listed above in physical, possibly some lifting and moving items
  • Other: Travel for position needs, prospecting possibilities and market research as needed.  Use of personal vehicle and phone as necessary.
