Texas Newsroom Managing Director

Who We Are

At COURIER Newsroom, we empower people and communities to connect with the news, opportunities, and issues impacting their lives. We believe that giving local journalists stronger platforms, access to audience data, and opportunities to grow with—not against—changing social media trends can significantly impact civic participation in a state—and build a healthier democracy from the ground up. Through original reporting, kitchen-table storytelling, and approachable explainers, we’re passionate about making the news real—and interesting—to our audience. We’re a rapidly growing team with new ideas on how to change the political landscape of this world. Our newsrooms deliver community-based storytelling to the online spaces where people get their information to highlight the forces that shape our lives while calling attention to the impacts of policy-making and political action on the local level.

Job Description

COURIER seeks a strategic and collaborative leader with a demonstrated passion and commitment to democracy to serve as the Texas Managing Director who will oversee the launch, management, and overall content, audience, and business strategy of a yet-to-open newsroom in the state in order to strengthen communities, rebuild local journalism, and improve the dissemination of civic information in Texas.

This role is an opportunity for someone to be forward-thinking on how to build and sustain a new model for local news in Texas and will be one of the first on-the-ground hires in Texas for our new newsroom.
