The Saratoga Sun in Saratoga, Wyoming has an immediate opening for a general assignment reporter. 

Who are we: The Saratoga Sun has been the newspaper of the Upper North Platte River Valley since 1888, making it one of the few newspapers founded prior to Wyoming statehood remaining in operation today. In the past decade, the Saratoga Sun has won awards from the Wyoming Press Association for general excellence and editorial excellence, as well as taking home the most or second most individual awards of any small-weekly newspaper in the state.

Who are you: You are a young journalist looking to break into the industry or a seasoned reporter wanting to further hone their craft. You produce great, clean copy for both our print and digital product. You love to tell the stories of those around you, you know there’s a story behind the story and you’re community-minded and community-driven.

Where are we: The Platte Valley is an outdoor-enthusiasts paradise. It is home to two blue ribbon trout fisheries—the North Platte River and the Encampment River—and 2.9 million acres of National Forest land. It also has some of the most coveted hunting areas in Wyoming, free natural hot springs and an active downtown.

What we expect: A general assignment reporter will be expected to write on and photograph a wide-variety of subjects ranging from high school prep sports to local government meetings, writing feature articles on Valley residents and reporting on the outdoor recreation and tourism of the area.
