OVERVIEW:

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a contract negotiator to join our Legal & Compliance team. The role provides broad exposure to the firm's activities and offers the opportunity to work in an inclusive, collaborative, and engaging environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:

Your responsibilities will include reviewing, negotiating, and maintaining various agreements with potential counterparties, vendors, and consultants, including confidentiality/non-disclosure agreements, contracts for goods and services, event-related contracts, sponsorship agreements, and engagement letters. You’ll also assist in related project-based work, including creating and maintaining various contract templates, training guidelines, and process documents.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• A bachelor's degree is required, along with a demonstrated record of professional and/or academic achievement.

• Candidates should have one to three years of work experience and an interest in learning more about legal and commercial risks, but no formal legal or contract reviewing experience is required.

• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities; proven editing, proofreading, and project-management skills; and a keen attention to detail are required.

• The expected annual base salary for this position is $100,000 to $130,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401k contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
