Renewable Term Lecturer in Creative Advertising, School of Media Arts and Design

 

The School of Media Arts and Design (SMAD) at James Madison University (JMU) invites applications for a Renewable Term Appointment (RTA) in the rank of Lecturer beginning in August 2024.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

SMAD seeks a student-oriented colleague to join our Creative Advertising Sequence and teach some combination of SMAD foundation courses and Creative Advertising classes. The new colleague also would help develop Creative-Advertising-focused course offerings, initiatives, and programs, as well as collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in the regional advertising community.

 

Qualifications:

A master’s degree is required, or a bachelor’s degree with substantial professional experience in creative advertising. Teaching experience is preferred.

 

Interdisciplinarity is a SMAD hallmark. SMAD’s distinctive undergraduate major has four concentrations: Creative Advertising, Digital Video and Cinema, Interactive Design, and Journalism. Each empowers students to use mass media as a vehicle for storytelling. SMAD provides one of the finest media production facilities in the country offering instructional workspaces for creating video, audio, graphics, animation, websites, and apps. The School has about 700 undergraduate majors and more than 20 faculty members, who represent a blend of professional and academic interests.
