The Globe and dglobe.com seeks a digital news reporter for our newsroom in Worthington, Minnesota. The successful candidate will write a mix of hard news and feature stories, take photos and video, and cover issues in our city, county and region. We are seeking a reporter who is passionate about local stories in city government, crime and courts, and politics, as well as general news and features. We are part of the Forum Communications Co., a family-owned leading media and technology company proud of our continued growth in the upper Midwest.
Job description:

Original reporting and stories for The Globe, with an emphasis on Worthington city government, crime/courts and politics.

Create daily content for our website, to be shared in digital and print formats.

Develop and maintain relationships with local sources; represent The Globe in the community when needed.

Drive audience loyalty and digital growth through engaging and timely content.

Respond with urgency to breaking news, which includes writing stories and producing visuals on deadline with a digital audience in mind.

Collaborate with other content creators and news teams in the Forum Communications Co. network to identify strong regional, state and niche content that will appeal to our readers.

Other duties and projects as assigned.
Education and experience:

Writing in college or professional experience for a newspaper, website, magazine or specialty publication is required. AP Style knowledge is a plus.

Experience using digital analytics and social media tools.

Basic knowledge of video and photo editing is preferred.

A journalism or communications degree is preferred.
