Summary:

 

The Vacaville Reporter is seeking a Reporter to produce feature and entertainment writing for the Solano County communities, with a focus on Vacaville and Vallejo. You will be responsible for producing content for both print and online collaboratively with the team of journalists to create compelling and informative stories.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Produce a minimum of two byline stories per day? focusing on Arts & Entertainment

  • Work cooperatively with the team of journalists

  • Conduct general news reporting as needed

  • Conduct interviews with sources

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with journalism experience and knowledge of AP style

  • Professional journalism newsroom experience preferred

  • Strong spelling and grammar skills

  • Ability to quickly compile accurate reporting on a variety of topics

  • Ability to work independently, be a self-starter, and make connections easily

  • Ability to write on tight deadlines and prioritize tasks accordingly

 

 

Work Environment:

 

Position is currently working remotely, but is expected to regularly be out covering stories within our coverage area.   Driving to cover stories is regularly required.

The Vacaville Reporter, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group,  is a newspaper in the town of Vacaville, California. It also covers surrounding Solano County, California, including Fairfield, California and Dixon, California.

 

The hourly wage is $16.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition program, and 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
